Petit Sirah, long used as a blending grape in California, the varietal came into its own in the 1960s. A robust, deep-colored and peppery wine with plenty of tannins that ages well. At its best Petite Sirah has great depth and strength with some complexity, often called big and full-bodied. In addition to being bottled as a varietal wine, it is often blended with other varietals. It is a perfect match for red-sauced pastas, lamb, spareribs, and pizza.
