FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Email your questions and remarks to info@usawines.com.
We appreciate hearing from you.
What if the wine I want isn’t listed?
Simply contact Judy at 800-625-2610 or judith@usawines.com and we will see if we can get it for you.
Can I send a gift of wine to a friend?
Yes, there is a two-bottle minimum order. Just enter your address in the Billing Address section of the shopping cart, and your friend’s address in the Shipping Address section, along with your gift message. If your friend has not thanked you within the week, call Judy at 800-265-2610 and we will track the package.
Can you ship to my state?
Go ahead and place your order and we will call you if we cannot ship to your state. Sometimes we can route the order through a wine shop and ship to states that prohibit winery-direct shipping. Laws are in a confusing state of flux at this time.
Is my credit card safe in email?
No, it isn’t. When your order is forwarded to a winery or wine shop for shipment, your credit card number does not show in the body of the email; it is safely tucked away in an attached pdf file for your security.
At what point does my credit card actually get charged?
The charge occurs when the wine is shipped.
Is my credit card number kept on file?
No. As soon as your order is processed, our system deletes your credit card number for your security.
What if I don’t like the wine?
You will need to work that out with the winery or wine shop that shipped to you. They will usually take it back if you pay the shipping fees. If the wine has actually gone bad for some reason, they should replace it for you or credit you the whole amount of purchase.
Can I buy from more than one of the wineries that you represent and mix them in the same shipping container?
When an order arrives from several different wineries, we try our best to ship through a wine shop to keep your order all in one package. If that is not possible, we will call you first to discuss shipping charges for extra packages. For instance, if you order any of the Monterey County, California wines, we can have the order filled through A Taste of Monterey Wine Shop, and you will still receive a 10% case discount.
Is there any way of knowing how to find "the best" wines?
Absolutely not. Wine media pundits seem to think that five or six people can get together, taste, and rate the quality of wines which always wind up between 95 and 100 with every other wine falling between 90 and 95. The judges are almost always men, and they taste, perhaps, 60 labels of one varietal at a time. What does that mean? If their palates are all alike, they all pick the same wines as "best."
Our advice to you? Taste, buy and drink lots of wines. You'll begin to prefer some varietals over others. Then buy and drink your favorite varietals from many wineries. Pretty soon some of those will grow on you as favorites. Drink more of those favorites of your own choosing and have lots of enjoyment. And buy those wines as gifts for your friends. They may, or may not, like them.
What about the picks of wine writers?
We suggest that you taste wines touted by wine writers until you find a writer whose tastes match your own. Then by following his/her advice on new wines, you will stand a better chance of finding ones you like, too.
